This imaginative book for ages 4 to 8 follows the adventures of our Little Brain People - Serotonin, Dopamine, Adrenaline, and Oxytocin as they face a big fright. This starts a panic, throwing them into a yucky brain moment with survival reactions of fight, flight, and freeze. See how they reset and return to a state of calm, by breathing, moving, and re-connecting with each other.

Wonderfully illustrated and part of the Conscious Stories collection, this one-of-a-kind story will help children understand how their brain functions to help and protect them. The book ends with a detailed activity page with real-life tips on how to better manage yucky brain moments. Perfect for parents seeking conscious parenting tools!

Each book now includes a page of core lesson stickers serving as reminders of the lesson of the story. In this story, the core lesson is I BALANCE MY BRAIN.

“A child's developing brain and body needs one thing most in the world…safety.
As both a clinician and a parent I am grateful for the safety and love this story offers us.”

“Our brains are pattern-seeking and survival-oriented, and these beautiful stories are a safe place for families to connect and thrive."

The little Brain people

Such a beautiful and simple story to share language with our kids and help them through those moments of dysregulation and providing them ways to get back into a more regulated state. These books are a gem!

My 4 year old granddaughter has big feelings often and takes a long time to get over those feelings. After reading The Little Brain People a couple of times, she has begun to self regulate her feelings and tells me she had a “yucky brain moment”.

Amazing for all ages!!!

As a Mental Health clinician, I have to say this book is beautiful, easily digestible, and chalk for of knowledge to give both kids and adults a common language. The emphasis on connection is key to helping create and maintain this language. When parents AND kids know the how and why, they are more compassionate, less reactive and less afraid. This book is essential in every classroom!! It has been added to my resource list when I train teachers and I have yet to have a talk where they are not blown away. I love having kids make a menu of the ways that they release oxytocin so that they can refer to it when their brain feels hijacked by their amygdala.

My Daughter is 11 years old and loves the book. I thought it was quite an interesting way to teach children how negative thoughts can affect our relationships. Thank you Andrew

Meet The Author

My name is Andrew Newman. I love all things creative and spiritual - especially kids! I've written books that help families connect at the end of those hectic days filled with growing, loving, and learning. I have trained and worked in healing and community building for many years which is demonstrated in the amount of detail and attention I've given to the impact of each book. These stories come to me in moments of clear sight and understanding. They feel like a gift to me, and I hope to pass that on to you and yours. Welcome to Conscious Stories - I hope it blesses your family!

Connect more with your children.

Each bedtime story guides you through snuggle-break meditation, a mindful journey, and a conscious conversation.
