This timeless rhyming bedtime tale for kids ages 3 through 7 asks a simple but profound question: What makes a tree good? Children explore this concept through the many beautiful aspects of a tree’s nature, and, in the end, learn a lesson about their own self-worth. This book will help children to see and appreciate their own goodness and inner beauty.

The book ends with The Goodness Stretch, a set of questions to help young listeners and readers to relax their bodies, emulate the qualities of a tree, and to stand in their own goodness.

"I hope that the Tree of Goodness reaches many readers. The words in your book are simple yet full of wisdom, the artwork is elegant and filled with a sense of humor. Children, as well as adults, will learn the meaning of deep ecology from reading this book."

helped my grandson

I keep my 3 year old grandson 2 days a week and find I am parenting again. One day he was doing something potentially dangerous and would not stop. Feeling scared of how he could get hurt, I told him he would be punished if he did it again--meaning a 3-4 minute time out. "And then I would lose a little bit of love," he replied, and he repeated that statement 2 more times during the conversation, Throughout the next few days, I had talks with him about my loving him "as big as everything," no matter what he ever did. And then I ordered The Tree of Goodness book and read it to him as soon as it arrived, emphasizing that the tree was made out of good JUST LIKE HE IS. He repeated this during the day--"Even if I do something bad, I am still good." He has never been overly affectionate with me, but when his dad came to pick him up that day, he hugged me really tight and said, "I love you SO MUCH!"

Connect with the trees

This is important to share the wisdom of the trees with our smallies. They are sponges at this age and we need to move forward protecting their innocence and helping them to remember their divinity.
